For as long as I can remember this kit has been above the cabinets in my late father's basement workshop. The box has some water damage.I found one mouse fecal pellet inside the box. The house never had water or rodent problems and that makes me think my father had this kit before the. House was built in 1947. My father was born in 1923 in Fall River, Massachusetts and was an avid sailor. We should have talked more. I think the kit is complete. The middle of the instruction page has lost wording as shown. The item weighs 1 pound 9.9 ounces. The kit box is 19"x5.25"x4. Usually, I take the item to the Post Office and ask them for options and costs. Interested potential buyers may contact me to examine the kit and use the local pick-up option. Bluenose was a fishing and racing gaff rig schooner built in 1921 in Nova Scotia, Canada. Nicknamed the "Queen of the North Atlantic", she was later commemorated by a replica, Bluenose II, built in 1963. The name Bluenose originated as a nickname for Nova Scotians from as early as the late 18th century. Boucher, a French naval architect employed by the United States Navy, made the observation that scale models, although in common use throughout Europe, were practically unknown in the United States. Consequently, he left Government service as the former head of the Navy's model shops in Washington to establish his own company and later partnership with Patton Lewis in New York City. During World War II and into the decades of the 50s and 60s the heavy demand for naval and commercial vessels resulted in record orders for models. Many still remain on display in maritime museums, yacht clubs and Government offices.
Although best known for its marine models, the Boucher/Boucher-Lewis name is usually identified with the wide range of museum-quality models found in the most prestigious collections.
